This is what assimilation means, and history gives us clear warnings. Rome collapsed as a city-state for this very reason, when it allowed the Visigoths to settle without demanding loyalty to Roman law and values. History has a way of repeating itself.
In my recent op-ed, I argue that when we ignore the religious and cultural dimensions of crime and extremism, when we dismiss these issues as fringe concerns, we are setting ourselves up for failure. This isn’t about intolerance, and it’s not about rejecting multiculturalism outright. It’s about recognizing that our legal system is built on Judeo-Christian principles, principles grounded in freedom, true tolerance, and the rule of law. And everyone here must follow those laws.
