Opinion: A Criminogenic View into ICE Terrorism

In recent months, a troubling pattern of violence has emerged against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol personnel and facilities. Reasserting the National Character of the District of Columbia

Reasserting the National Character of the District of Columbia

Since its founding, the District of Columbia has occupied a unique, and intentionally constrained, place in our constitutional architecture. From the moment James Madison penned in Federalist No. 43 that the national capital must lie outside any single state’s sway, the Framers treated Washington not as an ordinary …

For 2024, the total line of duty deaths in law enforcement was 145 officers. So far in 2025 there have been 42 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Since last week’s episode we have had one officer death as of this date. St Michael Pray for them, their families, and us!

Okay here is Dr C’s top five blitz on CJ News and Information for this week:

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded on Monday to allegations that the tragic flash floods in Kerr County, Texas, were caused by budget cuts under President Donald Trump’s administration. “Blaming President Trump for these floods is a depraved lie, and it serves no purpose during this time of national mourning,” Leavitt stated. She then laid out specific details to counter the claims: The NWS “executed timely and precise forecasts & warnings. The NWS issued a flood watch for the afternoon and evening hours. Additional flash flood warnings were issued in the morning, giving approximately four hours of lead time. Extra staff were assigned during the storm, despite media claims to the contrary. “So, to any person who has deliberately lied about these facts surrounding this catastrophic event, you should be deeply ashamed,” Leavitt said.

Dr. C’s Take: Credit where it’s due—our meteorologists nailed the forecast, and the extra boots on the ground prove they weren’t caught flat-footed. Blaming President Trump for Mother Nature’s fury is not just bad politics; it’s cruel and ignorant. Let’s focus on real solutions—flood mitigation, infrastructure investment, and community resilience—instead of playing the blame game.

The Trump administration has vowed a “zero tolerance” policy after a local police officer was shot near an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Texas on Friday. “We are closely monitoring the attacks on DHS detention facilities in Prairieland, TX, and Portland, OR, and are coordinating with the USAOs and our law enforcement partners,” Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche posted on Saturday to the social media site X. He added: “The Department has zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property and will bring the full weight of the law against those responsible.”

Dr. C’s Take: Good—federal law enforcement knows you don’t mess with the badge. A “zero tolerance” stance sends a clear message: attack a cop, and you’ll answer to the full force of the U.S. justice system. Now let’s back that up with rapid investigations, community outreach to defuse tensions, and unmistakable support for the brave officers who keep us safe.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), it’s a cutting-edge response to a serious and costly problem: wildlife threatening military aircraft and infrastructure. Birds and small animals are an ongoing hazard to military aviation, with the potential to cause millions of dollars in damage—or even endanger aircrew lives—when they collide with aircraft engines or other sensitive systems. To tackle this issue, ERDC is developing a fleet of prototype unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), nicknamed “Coyote Rovers,” that can patrol airfields and scare off birds and other wildlife.

Dr. C’s Take: Smart move—nothing says “stay clear” like an unblinking robotic sentry on patrol. These Coyote Rovers not only protect our pilots and gear, they free up soldiers for higher-value tasks. It’s deterrence by design: show wildlife—and bad actors—that the field is watched and defended. Simple, effective, and 100% American ingenuity at work. Should be deployed at every airport and on critical infrastructure.

The health of U.S. children has deteriorated over the past 17 years, with kids today more likely to have obesity, chronic diseases and mental health problems like depression, a new study says. Much of what researchers found was already known, but the study paints a comprehensive picture by examining various aspects of children’s physical and mental health at the same time. “The surprising part of the study wasn’t any with any single statistic; it was that there’s 170 indicators, eight data sources, all showing the same thing: a generalized decline in kids’ health,” said Dr. Christopher Forrest, one of the authors of the study published Monday in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Dr. C’s Take: Alarming but hardly surprising—when our kids trade playgrounds for screens, we weaken the very backbone of America’s future defenders. Obesity, chronic illness, and mental health struggles aren’t just personal problems; they’re national security issues waiting to happen. It’s time to get serious about youth fitness—revive P.E. in schools, champion community sports, and model the active lifestyle we demand of our soldiers and first responders. America’s strength starts with healthy, resilient kids. Let’s start with bringing back strong Police Athletic Leagues!

Six Secret Service agents were suspended without pay or benefits following a gunman's attempt to take President Donald Trump's life at a Pennsylvania rally last July. Matt Quinn, the agency's deputy director, told CBS News on Wednesday that they "weren't going to fire [their] way out of this," but did say they are "laser focused on fixing the root cause of the problem." Quinn told the outlet that the agents' penalty ranged from 10 to 42 days of unpaid leave, adding that they were placed in restricted roles with less responsibility once they returned to the job. He said the disciplinary actions were in accordance with a federally mandated process.

Dr. C’s Take: Discipline isn’t just about punishment—it’s about restoring trust in the protective shield around our leaders. Suspending those agents signals accountability, but the real test is fixing whatever gaps let a would-be assassin slip through. We need a full Secret Service briefing on this event and its ongoing investigation—too much cloak-and-dagger secrecy only fuels doubt. Zero tolerance for lapses, rigorous training, relentless vetting, and transparency are non-negotiable if we expect our protectors to live up to their sacred mission.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson pledged his city would never cooperate with federal immigration authorities. His remark came during a press conference Tuesday after he was asked whether the city would consider setting up police “perimeters around public spaces … including schools” to shield individuals from federal agents.

Dr. C’s Take: Mayor Johnson’s sanctuary stance is a political stunt that undermines the rule of law and puts Chicagoans at risk. You can’t pick and choose which federal laws you’ll honor—public safety depends on cooperation, not obstruction. If you’re serious about protecting communities, you work with ICE to remove violent offenders, not build imaginary perimeters around schools.

In a dramatic — and bizarre — attempt to escape police, a man in downtown Vancouver spent over 45 minutes swinging from an overhead cable above a restaurant while throwing bricks and shattering windows below. The impromptu acrobat even took off his shirt mid-stunt, turning his aerial antics into a performance no one asked for. Unmoved by offers of help, the man eventually slipped while trying to rest his feet on another cable and landed on a strategically placed fire truck. Police promptly took him into custody and transported him for medical evaluation.

Dr. C’s Take: Turns out channeling your inner Spider-Man by hurling bricks and swinging from cables isn’t a great escape plan—especially when you land on a fire truck and still get cuffed.
