This week our guest on the Lou Desmond Show on KMET in San Bernardino was medically retired police officer Nick Wilson, Republican candidate for Assembly District 53. Nick offered his opinions on the consequences of Prop 47 and the reasons why he is running for state office.
Nick is a 13-year veteran police officer who was medically retired due to injuries sustained in the line of duty. He was a Senior Detective assigned to Intelligence, Gangs, Narcotics/Vice/Homicide and Organized Crime. He was a SWAT Team Operator, Field Training Officer and later worked at a Department of Homeland Security task force investigating terrorism activities where he was assigned during the San Bernardino Terrorist attack in 2015. Nick has been the recipient numerous awards which include the Distinguished Service Medal, Officer of the Year, Chief’s Citation, City Proclamation for Outstanding Investigations, and the United States Congressional Recognition- Homeland Security Committee. His dedication to public service continued in his founding of The Resiliency Project, a national non-profit that focuses on first responder mental health and suicide prevention. Also, he is the CEO of a public safety and consulting company that works to enhance the mission and operations of the law enforcement community.
San Bernardino Police Officer Association (SBPOA) President Jon Plummer hailed Nick Wilson’s credentials, stating, “Nick Wilson stands unmatched in his dedication to law and order. His career, marked by valor and sacrifice, exemplifies the very best of public service. The SBPOA is proud to endorse a candidate who not only speaks of change but has lived it.” His endorsements also include Alex Villanueva, the 33rd Sheriff of LA County, and the police officers’ associations of Claremont and Fontana.
