America's Criminologist Podcast for November 15, 2024

Dr C opines on criminal justice news, public policy, and recent published works.

Welcome to the America’s Criminologist Podcast for November 15, 2024. This is Dr Currie Myers with some interesting criminal justice news and events that have occurred in the United States recently.

My Podcast is brought to you by the Howard Wagyu Ranch. Raised on a family ranch in Central Kansas, Howard Wagyu serves Wagyu beef with the highest quality and excellence. Just go to their Facebook Page and go to Howard Wagyu!

My new book, “The Advent of Feral Man” is now available on Substack drcurriemyers.substack.com for all paid subscribers. In this book, I present compelling evidence that within the last decade, America is going into a quick decent into the “wilding” of human beings. A phenomenon that is perpetuated by the lack of faith, family, and formation in our human development. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

This week I was the guest-host on the Lou Desmond Show on KMET in San Bernardino. My guest was retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent, Attorney, and Townhall Columnist, John Nantz. In this 25m, unedited, no breaks, interview we discussed the post-election criminal justice system to include what the FBI should potentially look like under a new Trump Administration!

I was on the Mundo in the Morning Show with Pete Mundo on Tuesday, November 13 to discuss the home burglaries that occurred to Kansas City Chiefs’ stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The burglaries occurred within a few hours of each other and the time period surrounded the KC Chiefs Monday Night Football game with the New Orleans Saints. You can hear that show here.

Here are my pressing issues this week that I have offered an opinion on as an applied criminologist, ethicist and career law enforcement officer at the local, state, and federal level:

In recent years, the American political landscape has become dominated by a familiar set of faces. Political elites and media pundits often frame these individuals as the only “acceptable” choices to serve the United States. They hail from similar backgrounds: Ivy League educations, stints in prestigious law firms or think tanks, and close ties to Washington, D.C., and New York City. But why do these elites and the media assume the right to dictate who can lead the American people? Why must Americans be satisfied with a small pool of politically connected insiders rather than leaders with fresh, diverse perspectives and ideas? View my work here on Substack.

In recent years, we've witnessed an alarming trend across America: elected officials, particularly mayors and governors, openly defying federal immigration laws while facing little to no consequences. This deliberate disregard for established federal statutes not only undermines our nation's legal framework but also sets a dangerous precedent for selective law enforcement based on political preferences. In the U.S. government, security and enforcement responsibilities are increasingly common across agencies, a trend that has extended to the Department of Education (ED). The Department of Education’s law enforcement branch, which includes the Personnel Security Intake Branch (PSIB), Personnel Security Adjudication Branch (PSAB), Physical Security and Emergency Preparedness Division (PSEPD), and Protective Service Division (PSD), reflects this shift. Each branch manages critical functions related to personnel security, physical security, and protective services. However, the growth of this security apparatus has brought with it significant concerns, including bureaucratic creep, escalating costs, and potential overreach. These branches form a comprehensive security apparatus that would have been unimaginable to the department's founders. View my work here on Substack.

Okay here is my five-minute blitz on CJ News and Information for this week:

The recent revelation of an Iranian-backed assassination plot targeting former President Donald Trump serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threats facing our nation's democracy and the critical importance of our intelligence agencies' vigilance. The FBI's successful intervention in this complex international conspiracy demonstrates both the sophistication of foreign adversaries and the effectiveness of our law enforcement apparatus in protecting American interests. Religiously motivated hate crimes against Christians in Europe jumped by a whopping 226 percent in just one year, according to a grim report by a prominent Christian persecution watchdog group. On Friday, the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe (OIDAC Europe) released its Annual Report 2024, which documents a startling rise in violent incidents and hostility against Christians, as well as in vandalism and arson attacks on churches.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto continued to expedite their “sanctuary city” ordinance this week, hoping to get it in front of the City Council, passed, and formalized into law before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20th. However, despite this, Tom Homan, recently selected by Trump as his incoming border czar, said that if states and cities had sanctuary laws in place, they would just increase the number of agents in those places. “Nothing will stop us from deporting migrant criminals,” said Homan in a Fox News interview this week. “If we can’t get assistance from New York City, we may have to double the number of agents we send to New York City. Because we’re going to the job with you or without you.”

I can’t wait to see the new Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE that will be headed up by Elon Much and Vivek Ramaswamy. Saying it is the Manhattan Project of our time, alluding to the groundbreaking discovery and implementation of nuclear technology, Trump stated Musk and Ramaswamy will "pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies," which he called "essential to the Save America Movement."
