Based on my model the Violent Crime Rate is actually closer to 858 per capita, which is the highest violent crime rate ever recorded in the United States.

Our current crime statistics based on the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Violent Crime Rate (VCR) are higher than the last 14 years, which is 2010. The Bureau of Justice Statistics’ National Crime Victimization Survey from 2022 – 2023 shows a 44% increase in crime. The two Justice Department reports have never disagreed so much on violent crime’s year-over-year trend. I will address the reasons for the conflict in data in the next chapter. The national average for homicide clearance rates is below 50% when the national average decades ago was 75-80%.
