The Advent of Feral Man - Chapter Four: The Impact of the Dark Psychological Traits
The dark traits can be fueled by deindividuation, group identity, group acceptability, anonymity, and diffusion of responsibility.
"In civilized society, we are able to keep our dangerous tendencies in check through adherence to moral principles and societal norms. However, when these constraints are weakened or absent, the darker aspects of human nature, including narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism, can emerge, leading to destructive behavior and societal unrest." - Dr Jordan Peterson, Noted Psychologist
Influenced by moral relativism, our society has spun into many social contagions. These social contagions have increased the dark psychological traits, particularly the dark tetrads, especially in the Generation Z (born from 1997 – 2012) population. The dark tetrad involves narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy (dysfunctional interpersonal, emotional, lifestyle, and antisocial tendencies) and sadism.
Narcissism refers to a personality trait characterized by a grandiose sense of self-importance, a preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success or power, a belief in one's own unique and special qualities, a need for excessive admiration, a lack of empathy for others, and often, a sense of entitlement. Individuals with narcissistic traits typically exhibit a powerful desire for attention and validation. People with narcissistic traits may have difficulty forming genuine, reciprocal relationships, as their focus tends to be primarily on themselves. They may engage in manipulative behaviors to achieve their goals and may struggle to understand or empathize with the needs and feelings of others.
